Torrecid fulfills the INNPACTO project: “low cost photovoltaic rolls with chalcogenide technology on ceramic and vitreous – calcogen supports”

LOGOS_MINISTERIODuring the call 2011 of subprogram INNPACTO of Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness it was approved the project “low cost photovoltaic rolls with chalcogenide technology on ceramic and vitreous – calcogen supports” led by the company INVEST PLASMA with the participation of the TORRECID GROUP and the University Jaume I of Castellón.

The CALCOGEN project, with a budget of € 1,068,078, has been executed between April 2011 and December 2013 and aimed to develop photovoltaic cells based on layers of chalcogenide applied on vitreous and ceramic supports. Photovoltaic systems based on chalcogenides technology are one of the most promising alternatives to the currently used crystalline silicon technology thanks to advantages as reduced production costs and the replacement of toxic elements as for example selenium and cadmium.

The final results provide promising energy efficiency values, offering ceramic products a innovative product functionality for renewable energy sector, which represents a new opportunity to strengthen the competitiveness of the Spanish tile industry.
